As we continue developing Find Trails Farm, we want to take a moment to share more about what we’re working on—and why—with our neighbors, supporters, and the broader community.
While our long-term vision includes many layers of stewardship, sustainability, and nature-based hospitality, we’re starting intentionally small and simple. Our primary goal is to revitalize the land through regenerative farming practices while providing a peaceful space for others to reconnect with nature. The addition of camping is not just a passion project—it’s a practical way to help financially sustain the farm as we rebuild the health of our soil and shift away from the traditional farming methods that have been used here for over a century.
Why Camping
Regenerative farming isn’t just a method—it’s a long-term commitment to healing the land. To bring life back to our soil, we must first allow it to rest and rebuild. This means planting cover crops, avoiding chemical inputs, and giving the earth time to recover from decades of mechanical cultivation. Much of our soil is heavy clay, and it will take time and care to transform it into fertile ground that can support diverse, nutrient-rich crops.
During this early stage, our produce output will be modest. But that doesn’t mean the farm stands still. To sustain our efforts—and continue investing in essential infrastructure like water lines, storage barns, and soil health—we’re introducing a handful of nature-immersive campsites.
These low-impact campsites allow us to share the beauty of the land with others while supporting the bigger mission: building a thriving, regenerative farm that feeds the soil, the people, and the surrounding community. It’s a small, intentional step toward a more sustainable future—one that invites others to come alongside us in the journey.
We are keeping things purposefully slow, small, and deeply respectful of the land’s natural beauty.
No RVs or Trailers
Due to our single-lane gravel entrance, we are not allowing RVs or trailer camping at this time—and we want to be upfront about that. In the future, we may revisit the idea if infrastructure improvements make it safe and sustainable. That said, we’ll never be a typical campground with packed-in sites or full-time camping.
For now, our focus is on tent camping and small-scale guest stays that align with the peaceful, back-to-nature experience our 111-acre farm is designed to offer.
What We’re Building in Year One
We are starting with just 6 to 9 low-impact campsites across two wooded areas of the property. These are visually separated spaces that naturally support privacy and seclusion. In total, the farm has around 41 acres of forested land that could eventually support up to 20 thoughtfully placed, private sites—but our current goal is to build slowly and mindfully.
In our first season, we plan to:
- Offer three primitive tent campsites in the woods east of our northwest field
- Offer three additional campsites in the woods west of our northeast field
- Introduce a guest house on wheels (a small, fully equipped tiny stay) for those who prefer a more comfortable experience
- Install a full-service restroom with showers
Build a trail system through the woods and prairie fields.
- Begin growing vegetables in our first four 50’ x 100’ garden beds in the northeast field
- Build a barn and produce wash station, with future plans for a shared-use commercial kitchen. The kitchen, once complete, could also support local farmers who need access to food-safe processing for items like pickles, jams, and other small-batch goods.

Toilets, Showers, and Future Expansion
For campsites located farther from the main restroom facility, we’ll provide composting toilets, along with access to full-service showers and restrooms to be built in NE driveway entrance field of the farm. As we develop more driveway and expand utilities, we will slowly begin to introduce a few glamping-style units and upgrade some camping sites to include electricity and water access. As these more luxurious stays become available, we’ll reduce the number of primitive sites to keep the experience quiet and spacious for all visitors.
A Place to Reconnect
Find Trails Farm is more than a campground or farm. It’s a place to breathe, to walk, to rest. It’s where people can unplug from the noise of everyday life, spend quiet moments under the trees, and witness how food is grown by hand in healthy, living soil.
We believe time spent here can foster mental clarity, physical wellness, and a deeper appreciation for both nature and community. For many, it will be a chance to reconnect—with the earth, with their loved ones, and with themselves.
Thank you for supporting us as we move forward. We welcome your questions and ideas, and we’re committed to growing this project with transparency, care, and kindness.

Master Plan: Create diversity and be better stewards of the land
Core Business = Market Gardening
Supporting Business = Camping
Phase 1: Market Garden Building, Tent Camping Spots & Possibly A Guest House on wheels
No RVs — our one-lane entrance road isn’t suited for them, and we’re focused on offering a more nature-immersive, low-impact camping experience.
Phase 2: Expand our market garden and support buildings & construct off-grid glamping accommodations.
Phase 3: Build a luxury glamping site
